April 19–25 is National Library Week, officially set by the American Library Association, inviting readers of all ages to take part in an annual tradition that dates back to 1958. What began as a campaign to encourage reading has grown into a nationwide celebration of libraries as community hubs. And in true Southwest fashion, libraries across the region are going all in. Most of these events are open to the public, even if you don’t live in the county. For non-residents, an annual membership is often low cost, making these stops well worth a detour no matter where you call home.
