When the Mojave Desert heat finally drops below scorching temperatures, that’s when it’s time for an adventure to this Nevada hot spring. Found near Lake Mead, it’s a trek well worth the reward. Goldstrike Hot Springs offers one of Nevada’s most scenic and rewarding hikes—with steamy, natural pools as your payoff.
The journey begins at the Gold Strike Hot Springs Trailhead off U.S. 93. It’s roughly a 5-mile roundtrip trek where you’ll weave through sandy washes, climb over smooth (and slippery) boulders and follow the painted arrows using ropes to drop down into a dramatic slot canyon framed by sunburnt cliffs. As the sound of trickling water reaches your ears, you’ll know you’re close. At the bottom, warm pools beckon beneath sheer rock walls—perfect for a well-earned soak.
Tips Before You Go:
• Seasonal access only: The trail is closed from May to September due to dangerous heat; always check weather conditions before attempting the hike.
• Flash flood warning: Avoid visiting on or after rainy days—the canyon is prone to sudden flooding.
• Gear up: Wear hiking shoes for the trek and bring water shoes for navigating wet rocks near the pools.
• Soak smart: Enjoy the warm waters, but avoid splashing or submerging your head, as harmful bacteria may be present.
